In the Vikramgad block of Maharashtra’s Palghar district, our education initiatives address persistent learning gaps among children from tribal and first-generation learner communities. This work is implemented in partnership with Quality Education Support Trust, a not-for-profit organisation with deep experience in strengthening public education systems.
Key education initiatives include:
School-plus learning centres co-located within government schools, operating during school hours to support children from Grades 1 to 8 through structured, supplementary academic inputs.
Dedicated FLN centres for children in Grades 1 to 4, strengthening early reading, writing, and numeracy skills in Marathi through level-appropriate, hands-on learning methods.
Diagnostic assessments followed by differentiated instruction in language and mathematics for students in Grades 5 to 7 who are behind grade-level expectations.
Each Shikshan Samruddhi Kendras is facilitated by trained Balmitras—local youth developed as education practitioners—ensuring contextual understanding, continuity, and strong community connect.
Teaching practices emphasise acceptance of children’s home languages, contextual learning materials, experiential activities, and a gradual shift from rote to conceptual learning.
